Vigorous Vinyasa style yoga classes can feel very challenging, often times leaving you feeling depleted and exhausted. In the traditional method of Ashtanga yoga, students are taught to incorporate Pranayama (breath control), Bandhas (energy locks) and Drishti (focal point) to help maintain energy. Mastering these three techniques allows the student to move with more grace and ease and leave the practice feeling calm and rejuvenated. Join Chrissy Gonzalez and learn how to get the most out of your physical yoga practice through the proper use of Pranayama, Bandhas and Drishti. Class will begin with a brief explanation on these three concepts and why it’s important to utilize them in your practice.. She will then guide you through a strong vinyasa style yoga class where you will incorporate what you have learned. The goal of this workshop is to give you the tools to create a more peaceful experience in any challenging yoga class. Intermediate to advanced students welcome. Not appropriate for women who are pregnant.

Most of us think of yoga as simply a form of exercise; where we move, stretch and strengthen our limbs, slow down our breath and take rest in savasana. However, the physical practice, also know as “asana”, is simply one small part of the whole that is Yoga. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali refers to an ancient eightfold path called “The Eight Limbs of yoga” which create the framework for our yoga practice. Learning how to incorporate these 8 limbs on our mats can deepen our practice, helping us move closer towards the union of body, mind and spirit. Join Chrissy Gonzalez for an inspiring yoga practice and conversation on the 8 Limbs of Yoga, where she will weave each limb into the physical practice, then show you how to incorporate these lessons into your daily lives. All levels welcome.
